Our neighbor to the North, Toronto, has a lot more to offer than just Drake. Trio DIANA have been out here making some great synthpop tunes for years. The band’s first album, Perpetual Surrender, came out in 2013. Now, the band is preparing for their newly announced second album with the release of single “Confession” (via The FADER).

“Confession” starts with a decidedly industrial flair of an intro that’s instantly attention-grabbing. From there the song moves into a celebration of all things synth, the production on the track clean and expressive. As you might have guessed, the track finds vocalist Carmen Elle singing about a confession. This particular confession pertains to a romantic situation, and the lyrical content perfectly fits over the synthpop underpinnings. There are also some very cool vocal layering techniques employed throughout the song that warrant multiple listens to pick up all the nuance.
You can stream “Confession” below. DIANA’s second album, Familiar Touch, arrives on November 18.
